Coat Closet Conundrum?
Coat Closet Organization
There's one item we in the Northwest have a lot of, coats and jackets!
No big deal? It's only a coat closet. You got a closet, a shelf and a coat rod. But that coat rod, holding everything from fleece vests to full-length parkas, is often set to the wrong height.
What you end up with is a little closet space above and a little closet space below. You continue storing stuff high and low. Pretty soon, there's no where for your coats to go…
Time for Coat Closet Redesign
When Empire Closets creates a new closet design, we optimize the closet space for ease-of-use and practicality. First of all, what's a coat closet for? Coats of course, so accurate accounting of space is paramount for easy-of-use and practical design.
Typically, we divide the coat closet into two sections:
- A space for coats
- A space for everything else
Coat rods are set to appropriate heights so coats hang just above the floor. This is important because you probably have coats of varying lengths and sizes.
Once the coat rod placement is established we develop shelving to within 12" (more or less) of the ceiling. Additionally, we add adjustable shelving in between.
Why the extra shelving?
Coat closet shelving provides a space for smaller items. Smaller items will remain organized and visible. It's no fun searching for things buried at the bottom of a closet.
Depending on your needs Empire Closets can make space so everything in your coat closet has a place.
Typical coat closet redesigns provide storage for:
- Vacuums
- Built-in vacuum hoses
- Umbrellas
- Dog leashes
- Hats and gloves
